Properties

Unlike extensively hydrolysed formulas, in which proteins are broken down into small chains, the proteins in Nutramigen PURAMINO consist of individual amino acids — the separate building blocks that form proteins. This means that there is no cow’s milk protein for your infant’s body to react to.

Nutramigen PURAMINO:

  • Amino acid-based formula
  • Suitable for the dietary management of infants and children with severe cow's milk allergy and multiple food allergies
  • Suitable as the only source of nutrition from birth up to 6 months
  • Suitable as part of a weaning diet from 6 months onwards
  • Each tin of Nutramigen PURAMINO contains 400 g of formula
  • Suitable for Halal and Kosher diet

Feeding guide

Unless your healthcare professional advises you otherwise, use the chart below as a guide for the correct amounts of boiled water and powder to use. The feeding information provided here and on the product tins is intended as a guide only. Your infant or child may require more or less than the amounts shown — your healthcare professional will advise you if different amounts are required.

†Only use scoop in tin. Do not press powder into scoop - level off with the back of a clean, dry knife. Add 1 level scoop (4.4 g) to each 30 ml of water.

*When children do not receive adequate quantities of solid food, the amount of formula will need to be adjusted strictly following the advice of a healthcare professional.

Preparation

Nutramigen PURAMINO has specific preparation instructions. Carefully follow the instructions for preparation and use.

Wash hands thoroughly. Clean bottles, teats, caps and utensils in water (10 minutes at a rolling boil).

Boil fresh water. Leave to cool for up to 30 minutes prior to mixing. Do not use softened water. Pour the desired amount of hot water into clean sterile bottle.

Add required number of level scoops of powder (see feeding guidelines). Store dry scoop in the tin.

Cap the bottle, roll and shake well until powder dissolves completely. Check temperature on the inside of your wrist.

Once prepared, formula can spoil quickly. Feed immediately after preparation or cover and store in a refrigerator at 2–4°C for no longer than a total of 24 hours. Do not freeze prepared formula  and do not use if unrefrigerated for more than a total of 2 hours. Use formula that has been in contact with baby's mouth within 1 hour and do not refrigerate. Throw away prepared formula left in bottle and clean utensils. Do not heat feeds in a microwave.
